A letter from our candidate.Hey everyone, I have had a whirl-wind of month to say the least. Heres a quick rundown although this will take forever to type. lol. I retired (officially) Satine on a weeks notice then begin CCI Team Training for two weeks to receive my new Black Lab named August II. He goes by Auggie and we graduated on Feb. 11th. I was home just a few days before I took part in the Marine Corps Trials on Camp Pendleton. The MCT was a ten day Paralympic type competition among some 150+ Marines to try and make a fifty man team to compete against the other three Armed Services in May, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. I competed in Shooting, won a bronze medal and made the team! I'm extremely excited and a little overwhelmed as it's been 18 years this August since I pulled a trigger. I don't want to put "my cart before the horse" but my coaches have said I can pursue this as far as I would like based on my potential and the amount of shooters with my high level of spinal cord injury. I took this with a grain of salt until I found out three of my coaches work at the Olympic Training Center and one is a Para-Olympian. I said overwhelmed right? Anyway, this is a whole nother bear fight. There are competitions to travel to which would entail finding sponsors, caregiving and things like that. My name is on the Paralympic website so I truly feel like I have lived out a childhood dream right now!
